Stored Preferences Explained

Information about local browser storage used to remember a consent choice where the consent interface is available.

What local storage does

Local storage is a browser feature that lets a website remember a small value on the device. Where the site’s consent interface is active, a choice such as accepting or keeping essential preferences only may be recorded locally so the prompt does not need to be shown again on that browser.

Choice and control

Preference storage is not necessary to read the editorial pages. You can remove stored site data in your browser’s settings. Clearing it may cause a consent prompt to appear again if the interface is available. Storage on one browser or device does not automatically transfer to another.

Contact tool

Details entered into the contact note tool are used to assemble the visible preview in your current page. They are not automatically placed in local storage or sent to the site by that tool. Copying or downloading initiates an action you request in your browser.
